| Introduction: Conveyor Group is a collaborative of highly talented individuals with a combination of over 20 years of design experience. Originally founded in 1997 as AP Designs, our first projects included websites for local businesses and non-profit organizations. Over the past several years, Conveyor Group has built a reputation for high quality creative solutions, especially with custom website development. Many of the questions we receive regarding websites are geared around what sets us apart from other local website developers and larger firms in metropolitan areas. At Conveyor Group, we pride ourselves in the education we can provide for newcomers to this service, or those that have suffered through a bad website design experience and are ready to take the next step. We offer workshops through the Small Business Development Center, along with some intuitive surveys and checklists that help potential developers get the most for their money. For those that are currently in the market, we have outlined a couple of very important features that our firm offers which may help your organization in their decision to choose a professional website developer. Conveyor Group specializes in high-functionality web development using database technology. Resulting sites require little to no outside maintenance and allow for thorough content control via a secure online administrative interface - also known as a content management system (CMS). This system allows for one or many levels of access to various information from multiple individuals. The system will also completely track a particular individual's activity and record access information. Content that the user adds or revises, right within a standard web browser, is then dynamically driven to the appropriate page or pages of the site and is stored in one central location. Redundant information contained all over the site is automatically updated in one step. Site content updates are immediate and do not require any software purchases, specialized training, or the placement of a work order with your webmaster. This technology can be applied to just about any custom application to help make each site a valuable business tool, rather than just another online version of a company's brochure. One other thing to keep in mind, we're not a computer repair shop or internet access provider. We don't even sell computers (although we can make some recommendations). Our focus is always on the best, most creative solution to meet your needs. Website development IS NOT a side business at Conveyor Group, it's what we do! Development Tips: Beware of very low-cost "cookie-cutter" and FrontPage websites. The money you might spend on such sites is better saved for a custom-tailored solution. Within a year, your organization will likely be looking to upgrade. Conveyor does not base its pricing on the number of pages in your site. This is an antiquated method for bidding on a website project - especially for dynamic sites. Our proposals are based on the estimated amount of time we feel necessary to complete your project effectively. It is also important that your site not be completely based on "Flash" technology. That is, without an additional standard "HTML" version. Such sites are often not viewable in corporate environments or in businesses with policies against multimedia web surfing. Flash sites also do not allow for search engine crawlers to list you, and can be very clumsy on older or slower systems. There are some great work-arounds and alternatives Conveyor Group can offer without compromising the quality of your site.
